zeBubbles Chat ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal data and comply with applicable privacy and data protection laws, including the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the EU ePrivacy Directive (2002/58/EC as amended by 2009/136/EC).
zeBubbles is an ephemeral chat app that prioritizes anonymity and user privacy.
2. What We Do Not Collect
We do not collect, store, or process the following:
IP addresses
Email addresses
Location data
Chat message content
Any personally identifiable information (PII)
3. What We Do Collect
We only collect the minimal data needed to provide our service:
Nicknames: Users select a temporary nickname for use inside chat rooms. These are not linked to any identity or account.
Cookies and Tracking Technologies: See Section 5.
4. Monetization and Third-Party Advertisers
We work with Monetag to display ads on our platform. As part of this, third-party advertisers may:
Place cookies or similar technologies (e.g., local shared objects) in users' browsers
Collect data such as device type, browser, and interaction with ads (not chat content)
We do not share any user data with advertisers ourselves. Monetag and its partners handle any data collection independently, under their own privacy policies and legal obligations.
5. Cookies and EU Consent
In compliance with EU Directive 2002/58/EC (as amended by Directive 2009/136/EC):
We inform users about the use of cookies by third-party advertisers (including Monetag)
We implement a consent mechanism (cookie banner) to ensure prior and informed opt-in consent before placing cookies or similar devices on users' browsers in the EU
You may withdraw your consent or manage your cookie preferences at any time via your browser settings or our cookie preferences tool.
6. Data Retention
We retain no personal data.
Nicknames are temporary and only used within the current chat session.
Chat messages are not stored.
7. File Transfers and Data Relaying
zeBubbles Chat allows users to exchange messages and media in real time. While most data is ephemeral and peer-to-peer:
File uploads (for group chats) may be temporarily stored on Firebase Storage, a service provided by Google LLC, solely for the purpose of delivering content to recipients. These files are retained only until delivered, and are deleted automatically when the sender leaves the chat.
Real-time communication (e.g., in private chats) may use TURN servers to relay encrypted data such as messages or files when a direct peer-to-peer connection cannot be established. These servers may process, but do not store, any user content.
Both Firebase and our TURN provider operate under strict data protection agreements and comply with global standards, including GDPR. No personal identifiers are attached to these temporary files or transfers.
8. Your Privacy Rights
Although we do not process personal data ourselves, third-party services such as Monetag may. If you are an EU resident, you may have the right to:
Access, delete, or restrict processing of your personal data
Withdraw consent for cookie usage
Lodge a complaint with your data protection authority
